What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how visitors use the site. Some cookies are essential for the site to work; others help us improve your experience.

Cookies We Do Not Use

We believe in being explicit about what we don’t do, especially for a site focused on privacy:

  • No advertising cookies. We do not run display ads and do not set any advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No tracking pixels in emails. Our email system (Postmark) has open tracking and link tracking disabled.
  • No third-party social media trackers. We do not embed Facebook, Twitter/X, or other social media widgets that set tracking cookies.
  • No fingerprinting. We do not use browser fingerprinting or canvas fingerprinting techniques.

When you click an affiliate link on our site (links to VPN providers like ExpressVPN, NordVPN, etc.), the destination site may set its own cookies to track that you arrived via our referral. This is how we earn commissions that fund the site. We have no control over cookies set by third-party sites after you leave VPNTesting.com. See our affiliate disclosure for full details on how we make money.

Our Testing Tools

Our VPN leak test, DNS lookup, SSL checker, and other tools process data in your browser and through our server. The leak test logs anonymous, aggregate results (verdict, browser type, device category, country) to build our VPN Test Index dataset. No cookies are set by these tools, but test results are stored on our server. See our privacy policy for details on what test data we retain.

How to Control Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings:

  • Block all cookies: Most browsers let you block all cookies in Settings > Privacy. This may affect site functionality on some sites, but VPNTesting.com’s tools will still work.
  • Delete existing cookies: Clear cookies for vpntesting.com in your browser’s settings to remove any stored cookies.
  • Block Google Analytics specifically: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Changes to This Policy

If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page. Last updated: March 2026.

Vpn myths

Myth: All VPN protocols are equally secure. Reality: PPTP was cracked years ago. Modern protocols like WireGuard and OpenVPN are far more secure.
